Abstract:
A flexible tube for use in an endoscope and having a central axis has a helical tube, an outer layer covering the outside of the helical tube, and a control part. The helical tube has the following along the lengthwise direction of the central axis: a closely wound section to which initial tension is imparted, and sparsely wound sections positioned on the tip side and the base side of the closely wound section. The control part controls the movement by one or more sections of the sparsely wound sections in relation to the outer layer in the lengthwise direction of the helical tube.
