This fluid dynamic bearing device comprises: a shaft member (2); a bearing member (housing (7)), the shaft member (2) being inserted into the inner periphery thereof; a first seal member (8) that protrudes radially inwards from an opening part of the housing (7); and a second seal member (9) which is provided underneath the first seal member (8), protrudes radially outwards from the outer peripheral surface (21a) of the shaft member (2), and the radially outer end of which is disposed radially further outwards than the radially inner end of the first seal member (8). The fluid dynamic bearing device forms a first buffer space (S1) faced by the lower-side end surface (9d) of the second seal member (9) and forms a second buffer space (S2) between the upper-side end surface (9c) of the second seal member (9) and the lower-side end surface (8a) of the first seal member (8). The two buffer spaces (S1, S2) communicate at the radially outer side of the second seal member (9). Thus, the present invention is capable of reducing the width direction dimension and reliably preventing oil leakage.
