Abstract:
The step device, such as a ladder (1) or staircase, comprises at least two parts (2, 3, 4), both of which are provided with two longitudinal struts(6) and several steps (7) and which can be folded on top of each other due to hinge-type means (5). The width (L) of a step (7) with a supposed zero thickness is greater than e/sin alpha and, at the most, substantially equal to n.e/sin alpha, e being the width of a longitudinal strut (6), alpha being the angle of inclination between the longitudinal direction of the strut (6) and the plane of said step (7) and n being the number of parts. In the extreme top part (4), the steps (7) partially exceed a first same side of the struts (6) and in the extreme bottom part (2), they (7) partially exceed a same second (C2) or even first (C1) side of the struts (6). The steps of the superposed parts (2, 3, 4), when folded are inserted between each other. As a folding staircase, the device can be coupled to a pivoting trap door or a frame inside which a pivoting trap door is mounted.
