Abstract:

A folding portable telephone having enhanced antenna characteristics of both main antenna and sub-antenna. The folding portable telephone is provided with an upper case (1), a lower case (2), a hinge portion (3), a main antenna (4) arranged in the vicinity of the hinge portion (3) of the lower case (2), a sub-antenna (5) arranged at the lower end of the lower case (2), and a control section for selecting an antenna to be used. The folding portable telephone is further provided with an upper/lower connection switching circuit (10) connected with a lower circuit board (7), and an upper/lower board connection means (9) for connecting an upper circuit board (6) and the upper/lower connection switching circuit (10). The upper/lower connection switching circuit (10) turns a PIN diode on/off based on an antenna selection signal from the control section thus switching electrical connection state of the upper circuit board (6) and the lower circuit board (7). Since optimal connection state can be set for a selected antenna, both antenna characteristics can be enhanced.
