Abstract:
Provided is a friction stir welding device capable of improving the reduction of residual tensile stress due to rapid cooling immediately after welding in friction stir welding by increasing the amount of heat input into the section being welded. A cooling device (3) is provided on the side opposite to the direction of movement of the rotator (1) to cool the surface (5) of the section being welded using a cooling material (4) immediately after passage of the rotator (1). Moreover, a donut-shaped heat input means (6) is provided on the outside of the rotator (1). The heat input means (6) contacts the surface (5) of the section being welded at a processing surface (6a) for machining the section being welded and is pressed thereon by the reaction force of a pressing mechanism (6b). The pressing mechanism (6b) is fixed by a pressing plate (6c). Because the heat input means (6) is also fixed on the rotator (1) by a holder (6d), the heat input means rotates together with the rotation of the rotator (1).
