Abstract:
Proposed is a novel production method for a fuel cell reaction layer having a structure in which a catalyst is enclosed in a polyelectrolyte with a hydrophilic region therebetween (PPF structure). Said production method strengthens resistance to environmental change. The fuel cell reaction layer production process is provided with a catalyst, which is formed by supporting catalytic metal particles on a carrier, and an electrolyte phase, which surrounds the catalyst with a hydrophilic region therebetween. The disclosed method includes a degassing step in which the catalyst is dispersed in water and degassed and an electrolyte addition step in which an electrolyte is added to the aqueous catalyst dispersion after degassing. Before the degassing step, a pulverising step, where the catalyst is ground in water, is also included.
