Disclosed is a fuel cell which is suppressed in deterioration of the cell voltage and has sufficient reliability. Specifically disclosed is a fuel cell which comprises: a cathode (12), which comprises a cathode catalyst layer (16) and a first cathode gas diffusion layer (15) that is arranged on the cathode catalyst layer (16) and contains a fluororesin, and to which an oxidant gas is supplied; an anode (13), which comprises an anode catalyst layer (18) and anode gas diffusion layers (17, 23) that are arranged on the anode catalyst layer (18), and to which a fuel is supplied; a proton conducting membrane (11) that is held between the cathode catalyst layer (16) of the cathode (12) and the anode catalyst layer (18) of the anode (13); a second cathode gas diffusion layer (20) that is arranged on the first cathode gas diffusion layer (15) and has a fluororesin content less than that of the first cathode gas diffusion layer (15); a third cathode gas diffusion layer (21) that is arranged on the second cathode gas diffusion layer (20) and impregnated with water that is generated in the cathode (12); and a heat dissipation member (22) that is in contact with the third cathode gas diffusion layer (21).
