Description:
SPECIFICATION

A FUEL INJECTOR HAVING FILTER TECHNICAL FIELD

The present invention relates to fuel injectors used for spraying fuel into the combustion chamber in internal combustion engines. PRIOR ART

Said fuel injectors generally comprise an injector body. The fuel is passed in a controlled manner through said injector body. Besides the controlled passage of the fuel, another factor is the passage of fuel in a manner purified from foreign substances. Even if complete elimination of the foreign substances is not possible, the aim is to minimize the foreign particles as much as possible. In order to prevent passage of foreign substances, a filter is used which is placed into the injector body. Said filter generally comprises flow holes thereon permitting fuel passage. While the fuel is passed through the filter, the foreign substances, whose dimension is bigger than the diameter of the flow holes, remain inside the filter. This leads to accumulation of foreign substances in the filter, and as a result of this, the performance of the filter is deteriorated.

As a result, because of all of the abovementioned problems, an improvement is required in the related technical field.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a fuel injector, for eliminating the above mentioned disadvantages and for bringing new advantages to the related technical field.

The main object of the present invention is to provide a fuel injector where the foreign substances entering into the valve body together with the fuel are broken into pieces and where said foreign substances are rendered harmless. In order to achieve all of the abovementioned objects and the objects which are to be deducted from the detailed description below, the present invention is a fuel injector for use in internal combustion engines and comprising at least one filter having at least one inlet chamber for providing reduction of the foreign pieces inside the fuel into at least smaller sizes. Accordingly, the present invention is characterized by comprising at least one inlet channel for transferring fuel into the inlet chamber and extending in a substantially parallel direction with respect to the inner wall of the inlet chamber. Thus, the fuel rotates inside the inlet chamber, and it flows in the form of a vortex. Thus, the pieces inside the fuel are dispersed outwardly, and they hit the walls and they are broken into smaller pieces.

In a preferred embodiment of the subject matter invention, the filter comprises at least one filter pipe connected to the inlet chamber.

In a preferred embodiment of the subject matter invention, there is at least one filter element positioned inside said filter pipe.

In a preferred embodiment of the subject matter invention, there is at least one flow hole provided between said filter element and an inner wall of the filter pipe.

In a preferred embodiment of the subject matter invention, there is at least one channel provided on the inner wall of the filter pipe. In a preferred embodiment of the subject matter invention, said channel is provided in the extension direction of the filter pipe.

In a preferred embodiment of the subject matter invention, the channel is provided along the filter pipe.

In a preferred embodiment of the subject matter invention, the channel comprises at least one channel edge.

In a preferred embodiment of the subject matter invention, the channel has a form which widens inwardly.

THE DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

In this detailed description, the subject matter fuel injector is explained with references to examples without forming any restrictive effect in order to make the subject more understandable.

The subject matter fuel injector has a filter (10) for filtering and breaking up the undesired foreign particles inside the transferred fuel. The fuel is transferred to the filter (10) through an inlet channel (21 ). Said inlet channel (21 ) is connected to an inlet chamber (20). Said inlet chamber (20) is provided in a funnel-like form. The fuel, which passes through the inlet chamber (20), enters into a filter pipe (30). There is a filter element (40) provided in said filter pipe (30). Said filter element (40) is preferably provided in a cylindrical form having a diameter providing insertion thereof into the filter pipe (30). There are recesses provided on the outer wall of the filter element (40) and which extends partially along the length of the filter element (40). Thus, flow holes (50) are obtained between the filter element (40) and the inner wall (31 ) of the filter pipe (30).

In the subject matter fuel injector, the inlet channel (21 ) extends in a substantially tangent manner with respect to the inner wall of the inlet chamber (20). Moreover, since the inlet channel (21 ) is provided on the lateral side of the inlet chamber (20), the fuel, entering through the inlet channel (21 ), advances by forming a vortex inside the inlet chamber (20). Thus, the foreign pieces provided inside the fuel are dispersed outwardly, and they are guided towards the inner wall (31 ) of the filter pipe (30). By means of said embodiment, the accumulation of the foreign particles in front of the filter element (40) is prevented. Moreover, since the foreign pieces disperse and hit the inner wall (31 ) of the filter pipe (30) and since they are subject to high pressure inside the flow hole (50), the pieces are broken into smaller pieces and their sizes are reduced.

Moreover, in the subject matter fuel injector, there are channels (32) provided on the inner wall (31 ) of the filter pipe (30). Said channels (32) extend in the extension direction of the filter pipe (30). The channels (32) can extend along the filter pipe (30). The channels (32) are formed so as to preferably have at least one channel edge (33). The channels (32) are preferably formed in a manner widening inwardly. By means of the formed channel (32) and channel edges (33), the foreign pieces are broken into pieces in a more effective manner. In other words, by means of the inlet channel (21 ), the fuel flows in a vortex-like manner and it enters into the flow hole (50), and the particles are broken into pieces in the channels (32).

The protection scope of the present invention is set forth in the annexed Claims and cannot be restricted to the illustrative disclosures given above, under the detailed description. It is because a person skilled in the relevant art can obviously produce similar embodiments under the light of the foregoing disclosures, without departing from the main principles of the present invention.
