Abstract:
Provided is a functional food which can utilize the health-promoting effect of charcoal, can be ingested easily, has no adverse side effect, and has an effect to improve and suppress obesity. The functional food is characterized by containing a charcoal composition comprising at least one of bamboo charcoal, Bincho charcoal, activated bamboo charcoal and activated Bincho charcoal, wherein each of the activated bamboo charcoal and the activated Bincho charcoal has a bulk density of 0.3 to 0.6 g/ml, an average particle diameter of 10 μm or less, a BET specific surface area of 1000 to 1200 m2/g, and a iodine adsorption amount of 1000 to 1300 mg/g.
