Provided is a gas barrier laminate (10) having a structure having provided upon a plastic base material (1), in order, a first inorganic barrier layer (3), a moisture trap layer (5), and a second inorganic barrier layer (9), said gas barrier laminate having deactivation of the moisture trap layer sufficiently suppressed. The moisture trap layer (5) has a granular moisture absorbing agent dispersed in a matrix comprising an ionic polymer, said moisture absorbing agent having an absorbency characteristic of lower achieved humidity than the matrix. The moisture trap layer has excellent barrier properties against moisture and effective suppression of swelling caused by moisture absorption, as a result of an organic layer (7) that forms a base for when coating the second inorganic barrier layer being provided between the moisture trap layer (5) and the second inorganic barrier layer (9).
