Abstract:
Provided is a method for efficiently purifying 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene (HFO-1234yf) from a mixture that includes HFO-1234yf and a fluorine compound, the boiling point of which is near that of HFO-1234yf. This method for purifying HFO-1234yf includes: (a) a step for preparing a distillation composition that contains a fluorine compound (excluding HFO-1234yf), the boiling point of which is between -14°C and -30°C inclusive, HFO-1234yf, and chloromethane; (b) a step for subjecting the distillation composition to a distillation in which an azeotropic composition of HFO-1234yf and chloromethane, and a fraction containing an azeotrope-like composition are formed; and (c) a step for obtaining, from said fraction, purified HFO-1234yf having a higher concentration of HFO-1234yf than said fraction.
