Abstract:
Provided is a gas sensor comprising: a sensor element; an element-side ceramic insulator; an atmosphere-side ceramic insulator; a housing; a seal disposed between the housing and the element-side ceramic insulator; and an atmosphere-side cover. The atmosphere-side cover includes: a large diameter part; a small diameter part; and a shoulder part that is formed between the large and small diameter parts, presses the proximal end surface of the atmosphere-side ceramic insulator towards the distal end side via an impelling member, and thereby causes the atmosphere-side ceramic insulator to abut the element-side ceramic insulator. Formed in the shoulder part are an abutment part that abuts the impelling member and a separating part that is separated from the impelling member, and between the separating part and the impelling member, formed is a communication path that enables communication between an outside space part and an external channel. Due to this configuration, the flowing of gas-to-be-measured to the atmosphere on the inner-side of the atmosphere-side ceramic insulator is prevented and accurate sensor output is obtained. Further, damage to the atmosphere-side ceramic insulator can be prevented and production costs can be reduced.
