Abstract:
Provided is a gate drive device that performs drive control of a gate-driven semiconductor switching element that includes a current sense terminal, the gate drive device comprising: a waveform detection circuit (40) that takes in a detection signal of sense current from the current sense terminal and detects the presence or absence of transient sense current from a change in the sense current; a determination circuit (30) that determines, at a predetermined timing, the result of the detection by the waveform detection circuit, and determines the presence or absence of a short circuit; and a control circuit (20) that controls on/off driving of the semiconductor switching element and that, after driving the semiconductor switching element to be on, cuts off the semiconductor switching element on the basis of determination, by the determination circuit, of the presence of a short circuit.
