Abstract:
Provided is a hand dryer in which external air is introduced into a main body through a suction hole to generate a predetermined amount of drying wind by using a blower fan and a blower motor within the main body under the control of a control unit, thereby discharging the drying wind to dry the wet hands of a user. The hand dryer includes a motor power conversion unit rectifying commercial AC power received into the main body for generating the drying wind into DC power, thereby supplying the converted DC power into the blower motor. The hand dryer may include the motor power conversion, which can increase the life of a high speed blower motor, to increase the operational life of the product. Also, a high speed drying mode having the highest air flow rate and a silent drying mode having an air flow rate less than the highest air flow rate are separately provided so that one of the modes is operated as the basic drying mode. Then, when a previously defined hand gesture is recognized through a detecting sensor, the hand dryer is converted into the other drying mode to perform the drying mode desired by the user.
