The invention relates to enhancements, such as an interface configuration that can be optimized, an authorization check and data encryption, to a commercially available hands-free device for operating mobile telephones in motor vehicles. As a result of the microprocessor in the holder, if a new mobile telephone is purchased, only the holder needs to be replaced.
