Abstract:
This hard alloy comprises: a plurality of composite carbonitride hard phases including Ti as a main component element, and at least one type of additive element selected from the group consisting of Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W, Al, and Si; and a metallic bond phase including an iron-group element as a main component element. The plurality of composite carbonitride hard phases include a plurality of homogeneous composition hard phases, wherein, for each of Ti and the additive element(s), the difference between the average concentration in the entirety of the composite carbonitride hard phases and the average concentration in each of the composite carbonitride hard phases is from -5 at.% to 5 at.% inclusive. In a discretionarily specified cross section of the hard alloy, the percentage of the cross-sectional area of the homogeneous composition hard phases to the cross-sectional area of the composite carbonitride hard phases is 80% or higher, and the percentage of the number of the homogeneous composition hard phases to the number of the composite carbonitride hard phases is 80% or higher.
