Abstract:

A hardfacing steel for a machine structure, which is characterized by comprising 0.3-0.6 mass% of C, 0.02-2.0 mass% of Si, 1.5-3.0 mass% of Mn, 0.0025-0.5 mass% of W, 0.001-0.5 mass% of Al, 0.003-0.02 mass% of N, 0.0001-0.025 mass% of S, 0.0001-0.03 mass% of P and 0.0001-0.0050 mass% of O, with the balance substantially made up of Fe and unavoidable impurities, wherein the ratio of Mn to S (i.e., Mn/S) is 70 to 30000 inclusive.
