Abstract:
A CPU of this head-mounted display emits image light from a display and causes same to be incident on a user's eyes. The user is able to view the image superimposed onto the scenery of the outside world. In an image (70) selected by the user, a background color part (74) and a band part (72) are identified as a background portion. While the luminance of the background color part (74) and the band part (72) identified as the background portion is lowered, the image light is emitted without any lowering of the luminance of portions other than the background portion, such as, for example, a setting screen (71), characters (73), (75), (76), and an arrow (77). Because the background color part (74) and the band part (72) are lighter in color, the see-through characteristics are enhanced. Also, because the luminance of portions other than the background portion is not lowered, the user is more readily able to view information of portions other than the background portion.
