Abstract:
An image display device including a monocular head-mounted display (HMD) (12) mounted on the head of a viewer for projecting an image light to an observing eye (16) that is one of the eyes of the viewer; and a holder for holding the HMD (12), the holder being mounted on a mount member (70) mounted on the head of the viewer, wherein: a visual field of the observing eye (16) has an overlapping region overlapping a visual field of a non-observing eye (18) that is the eye of the viewer that is not the observing eye (16), and a non-overlapping region independently present without overlapping the visual field of the non-observing eye; and the holder holds the HMD at a position fulfilling the criterion that a first projection area when a portion existing in the overlapping region within the HMD (12) is seen from the observing eye is not less than a second projection area when a portion present in the non-overlapping region within the HMD (12) is seen from the observing eye.
