Provided is a head-mounting type video display system, wherein video with high signal quality and high-definition can be displayed, by inhibiting intrusion of electromagnetic noise. Proposed is a head-mounting type video display system (1) equipped with: a head-mounting type video display apparatus (10) that is to be mounted onto the head of an observer; a video signal generating apparatus (5) for generating a video signal to be displayed on the head-mounting type video display apparatus (10); and optical fibers (7) for connecting the head-mounting type video display apparatus (10) and the video signal generating apparatus (5). The video signal generating apparatus (5) comprises: a light generator for generating light; a modulator for digitally modulating the light generated by the light generator according to the video signal, to generate an optical signal; and a light guiding section for guiding the optical signal to the optical fibers (7). The head-mounting type video display apparatus (10) comprises: a demodulator for demodulating the optical signal transmitted by the optical fibers (7) into an electrical signal; a video display element for converting the electric signal demodulated by the demodulator into video; and an ocular optical system for imaging the video displayed on the video display element onto the eyes of the observer.
