The purpose of the present invention is to provide a head-up display device that is small in size, has excellent contrast, and offers excellent viewability even in the presence of external light. Disclosed is a head-up display device that displays, in a portion of a driver's field of view, information including an image, said head-up display device comprising: an image display device that is arranged in a position outside the driver's field of view and that generates and projects image light for projecting said information; and a transparent screen that is arranged in a portion of the driver's field of view, and that lets light from the field of view pass through and reflects the light projected from the image display device in the direction of the driver. A solid-state light source device (421) that reflects and mixes light emitted from a plurality of light-emitting cells (40) and that emits the light in a predetermined direction is used as a light source constituting the image display device.
