Abstract:
Provided is a heat-assisted magnetic recording medium which comprises a substrate (1), undercoat layers formed on the substrate (1), and a magnetic layer (5) formed on the undercoat layers, the magnetic layer (5) comprising an Fe-Pt alloy having an L10 structure or a Co-Pt alloy having an L10 structure as a major component, wherein the undercoat layers are composed of a first undercoat layer (2) constituted of an amorphous alloy, a second undercoat layer (3) constituted of an alloy of a BCC structure comprising Cr as the main component and further containing at least one element selected from Ti, Mo, W, V, Mn, and Ru, and a third undercoat layer (4) constituted of MgO. Also provided is a magnetic storage device including the heat-assisted magnetic recording medium.
