Abstract:
A heat-resistant, fluorine-containing optical material is disclosed which has a high Tg and a low refractive index and satisfies mechanical strength and transparency in a balanced manner. In particular, a cladding material for plastic optical fibers is disclosed which can be used in high-temperature environments in engine compartments of automobiles or the like and is low in bend loss. The heat-resistant, fluorine-containing optical material is composed of a cured product of a polymer having a glass transition temperature of not less than 100&ring C which polymer contains a fluoroalkyl ester unit having a branched chain that is derived from an acrylic acid and a multifunctional acrylate unit.
