Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for selectively introducing carbonyl groups into polymers by oxygenating double linkages C=C of polymers with the aid of nitrogen monoxide (N2O) at a temperature ranging from 50 to 350°C and a pressure of N2O ranging from 0.01 to 100 atm. The introduction of a small quantity of C=O groups makes it possible to modify the physico-chemical properties of a polymer preserving the molecular weight and molecular-mass distribution thereof. Deeper oxygenation results in controlled breaking of macromolecules and makes it possible to produce oxygen-containing oligomers having a desired molecular mass.
