Abstract:
A high frequency amplifier comprising: an asymmetric Doherty amplifier amplifying input high frequency signals that have a wavelength λ and comprising a carrier amplifier and a peak amplifier, said peak amplifier starting amplification if the output from the carrier amplifier has reached a saturation range and having a different saturation output from the carrier amplifier; a driver amplifier that drives the asymmetric Doherty amplifier; a branching circuit that branches the high-frequency signals amplified by the driver amplifier into an input path on the peak amplifier side and an input path on the carrier amplifier side; a phase adjustment circuit that is provided in either the peak amplifier-side path or the carrier amplifier-side path and delays either the peak amplifier input signal phase or the carrier amplifier input signal phase; a first substrate having the carrier amplifier and the peak amplifier mounted thereupon; and a second substrate having the driver amplifier, the branching circuit, and the phase adjustment circuit mounted thereupon. If the second substrate is stacked upon the first substrate: the driver amplifier input terminal and the carrier amplifier input terminal are at positions where same project to each other; and the electrical length from the driver amplifier input terminal to the carrier amplifier output terminal is set so as to be a (2n + 1) × π phase, where n is an integer of at least 0.
