Title:
HIGH-PRESSURE DEVICE FOR PRODUCING SUPERHARD MATERIALS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2002/053274
Kind Code:
A2
Abstract:
The invention relates to devices for producing high, mainly superhigh pressure in a container having an axis and a plane of symmetry and can be used, in particular for producing superhard materials: synthetic diamonds, boron nitride etc. The inventive device comprises a container, plungers disposed symmetrically with respect to the axis and provided with a common drive in order to compress the container in a radial direction. Said device also comprises elements which fix the container in an axial direction and serve as guides for the plungers. Said elements are embodied in such a way that the extrusion of container material in splits between the elements and the plungers is prevented. The inventive device is characterised in that the element fixing the container in an axial direction is provided with an axial moving drive and the plungers are assembled in two equal groups with respect to the number thereof. The plungers of each group are symmetrically arranged on said element with respect to the plane and provided with returning assemblies. The drive of the plungers is embodied in the form of a hydraulic drive and a block consisting of several coaxially arranged rings which are tightly jointed to each other. Said block is rigidly connected to a movable element of the plunger. Wedges are arranged on the internal surface of the smaller ring in such a way that the number thereof corresponds to the number of elements and wedge pairs are formed. All contacting surfaces of the plungers are electrically insulated with respect to each other.
