Title:
HONEYCOMB STRUCTURE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/125815
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Disclosed is a honeycomb structure that is provided with: a tube-shaped honeycomb structure section (4) having partitions (1) and an outer peripheral wall (3) that are of a porous material and that define a plurality of cells (2); and a pair of electrode sections (21) that are disposed on the sides (5) of the honeycomb structure section (4). The electrical resistivity of the honeycomb structure section (4) is 1-200 Ωcm; each of the pair of electrode sections (21) is formed in a band-shape that extends in the direction that the cells (2) of the honeycomb structure section (4) extend; in a cross section that is perpendicular to the direction that the cells (2) extend, one electrode section (21) of the pair of electrode sections (21) is, with respect to the other electrode section (21) of the pair of electrode sections (21), disposed on the reverse side so as to sandwich the center (O) of the honeycomb structure section (4); in a cross section that is perpendicular to the direction that the cells (2) extend, 0.5 times the central angle of each electrode section (21) is 15-65°. The honeycomb structure is a catalyst support, can also function as a heater by means of applying voltage, and can suppress a bias in temperature distribution when applying voltage.
