Abstract:
In a hybrid automobile in which regenerative control by a motor can be performed by disengaging the engine from the drive shaft by a clutch at the time of deceleration of the vehicle, acceleration response at the time of an acceleration request from the driver is improved without unnecessarily starting the engine. Starting of the engine is performed in response to: a brake releasing operation when the vehicle speed during vehicle deceleration is higher than a predetermined vehicle speed threshold value; an accelerator operation when the vehicle speed during vehicle deceleration is lower than the predetermined vehicle speed threshold value; a brake releasing operation when the battery level of a secondary battery during vehicle deceleration is lower than a predetermined battery level threshold value; or an accelerator operation when the battery level of the secondary battery during vehicle deceleration is higher than the predetermined battery level threshold value. The engine may be crank-started by a starter, and the method for driving the starter may be changed.
