Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for purifying hydrochloric acid that removes organic substances from organic substance-containing hydrochloric acid that comprises organic substances with boiling points of -25 to 120°C at atmospheric pressure and for which the hydrogen chloride concentration is higher than the azeotropic hydrogen chloride concentration at atmospheric pressure. The hydrochloric acid purifying method is provided with a process of distilling out said organic substances from the top of a distillation column by distilling said organic substance-containing hydrochloric acid using the distillation column at an operating pressure such that the azeotropic hydrogen chloride concentration at the operating pressure will be higher than the hydrogen chloride concentration of said organic substance-containing hydrochloric acid.
