Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for purifying hydrochloric acid that removes organic substances from a first organic substance-containing hydrochloric acid that comprises organic substances with boiling points of -25 to 120°C at atmospheric pressure and for which the hydrogen chloride concentration is higher than the azeotropic hydrogen chloride concentration at atmospheric pressure. The hydrochloric acid purifying method is provided with a process for distilling out said organic substances from the top of a distillation column by distilling a second organic substance-containing hydrochloric acid, that is obtained by mixing the first organic substance-containing hydrochloric acid with water or dilute hydrochloric acid and wherein the hydrogen chloride concentration is less than the azeotropic hydrogen chloride concentration at atmospheric pressure, using the distillation column at atmospheric pressure.
