Abstract:
An image capture device is provided with: an illumination unit that generates illumination light consisting of components of a plurality of wavelength bands and having an illumination characteristic in accordance with a setting; an illumination control unit that controls the illumination characteristics of the illumination light to be generated by the illumination unit; an image capture unit that captures an image of light from a subject, thereby generating an image signal; a statistical data setting unit that sets statistical data to be used for estimation of the spectral characteristic of the subject included in the image signal generated by the image capture unit; an estimation unit that uses the statistical data, set by the statistical data setting unit, to estimate the spectral characteristic of the subject included in the image signal; an illumination characteristic establishment unit that establishes the illumination characteristic of the illumination light in accordance with the spectral characteristic of the subject estimated by the estimation unit; and a determination unit that, on the basis of whether the image signal, generated by the image capture unit under the illumination light having the illumination characteristic established by the illumination characteristic establishment unit, satisfies a criterion of achromatic color, determines whether the statistical data, set by the statistical data setting unit, is appropriate statistical data.
