Abstract:
Provided are an image capture device and a focus control method such that an optimal auto-focus scheme is selected as according to the environment where a subject is photographed and photographic conditions at the time of said photography so as to improve image capture quality. A system control unit (11) of the image capture device selects and carries out either focus control by phase-difference auto-focus or focus control by contrast auto-focus, in accordance with the relative magnitude relationship between a determination threshold which is set for the f-stop and a set f-stop in the case where an auto-focus instruction is given. The system control unit (11) can change the determination threshold according to the exposure value when an auto-focus instruction is given.
