Abstract:
The present invention displays faithfully even images having finer brightness differences by suitably varying light source output even within a single frame or subframe. An image display device is provided with: a light source; display elements that form projected image light by means of light incident from the light source; and a control unit that controls the light source and the display elements according to an image signal. The control unit varies the output of the light source within a single frame, which is the minimum display time displaying a single image shown in the image signal.
