Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide an image display device that is provided with an optical film having a practically problem-free thickness without the use of a special inorganic material, that has high color rendering properties, and that allows the occurrence of blackouts and interference colors (irregularities in color) to be suppressed to an extremely high degree even for light sources having narrow emission spectra. The present invention is an image display device having a configuration in which an optical film having a plurality of refractive indices in a plane and a polarizer are arranged in the order stated, the image display device being characterized in that the optical film and the polarizer are installed so that the angle formed by the slow axis of the optical film and the absorption axis of the polarizer is approximately 45°, the retardation of the optical film is 3000 nm or greater, and the ITU-RBT.2020 coverage of light that enters the optical film is 50% or greater.
