Abstract:
A control unit, after (S1) detecting the resistivity of a liquid developer, (S2) acquires information relating to the toner mobility of the liquid developer. The control unit, then, (S3) identifies the current state of the liquid developer on the basis of the resistivity and toner mobility and (S5) executes a control process that is different for each identified state (category). The control unit can execute a suitable combination of control of charge control-agent replenishment, control of replenishment with a replenishing liquid, and control of change in a developing voltage (adjustment control of Vback). When this is done, even if Vback is reduced accompanying a reduction in the resistivity due to replenishment of the charge control agent, Vback can be recovered by subsequently changing the developing voltage. Both flow pattern production and the development of a low-image-density nonuniform toner image can thereby be suppressed.
