Abstract:
Provided is an image generation technique whereby the sense of incongruity caused by an image quality fluctuation due to movement of the observer's viewpoint can be suppressed. A composition ratio determination unit of this image generation device includes an image quality evaluation index calculation unit and an image quality evaluation index comparison unit. For each of a plurality of composition ratios, the image quality evaluation index calculation unit generates a composite image J1 from an observation viewpoint image I1 and an intermediate viewpoint image I2 and a composite image J3 from an observation viewpoint image I3 and the intermediate viewpoint image I2, uses the composite images J1 and J3 to calculate an image quality evaluation index at an observation viewpoint V1, an image quality evaluation index at an intermediate viewpoint V2, and an image quality evaluation index at an observation viewpoint V3, and uses the image quality evaluation index at the observation viewpoint V1, the image quality evaluation index at the intermediate viewpoint V2, and the image quality evaluation index at the observation viewpoint V3 to calculate the variation v of the image quality evaluation index. The image quality evaluation index comparison unit determines a composition ratio A on the basis of the variations v of the image quality evaluation indices.
