Abstract:
This image pickup device has: a light source device 4 that emits illuminating light; an image pickup element 22, which picks up an image of a subject to be inspected, and generates image signals; a waveguide 51, i.e., a transmission path, which propagates the image signals as millimeter electromagnetic waves or sub-millimeter electromagnetic waves, and which is opened at both the ends; an optical fiber 51a that serves as a dielectric body in the waveguide 51, and also as a light guide for transmitting the illuminating light; transmission-side waveguide connection antennas 52a, 52b for transmitting the image signals as the millimeter electromagnetic waves into the optical fiber 51a, said transmission-side waveguide connection antennas being inserted into the optical fiber 51a; and reception-side waveguide connection antennas 72a, 72b, which receive the image signals as the millimeter electromagnetic waves propagating in the waveguide 51.
