Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to an image processing apparatus and an image processing method that can enhance the encoding efficiency in prediction using intra-screen correlation. In encoding a current motion vector of a current block used for prediction in which intra-screen correlation is used, if the type of a reference picture in the current block differs from the type of a reference picture in a candidate block corresponding to a candidate of a reference motion vector that is referred to in generating a prediction vector of the current motion vector, a prediction-vector generation unit sets the candidate block to NOT AVAILABLE and generates a prediction vector of the current motion vector using the reference motion vector. A difference-vector generation unit generates a difference vector between the current motion vector and the prediction vector generated by the prediction-vector generation unit. The present disclosure can be applied to, for example, an encoding device.
