Abstract:
Provided are an image processing device and an electronic endoscope system that enable a high quality endoscope observation image to be obtained by sufficiently reducing noise even when the imaging environment varies. A noise reducing unit (24a) sets a pixel of interest and peripheral pixels from among the plurality of pixels that constitute an endoscope observation image, and performs noise reduction on the pixel of interest in accordance with the size relationship between a reference threshold and the difference between the pixel values of the pixel of interest and the peripheral pixels. A reference threshold varying unit (24b) varies the reference threshold used in the noise reduction on the basis of the ratios of at least two color components included in the pixel of interest.
