Abstract:
Provided is an image processing method for photographs of participants who are photographed at a marathon or other event, said method carrying out image processing upon detected athlete's bib regions, thereby improving precision in recognition of bib numbers and linking the recognized bib numbers with the persons in the photographs. This image processing method comprises steps of: detecting persons from inputted images; estimating, from the positions of faces of the detected persons, regions wherein athlete's bibs are present; detecting, from the estimated regions, regions including bib numbers; carrying out image processing upon the detected regions and carrying out character recognition of the bib numbers from the image-processed images; and, if the bib number is uncertain, linking a photographic subject with the bib number by comparing the images among a plurality of the inputted images.
