Abstract:
An image processing device and method enabling prevention of degradation of the compression efficiency without increasing the computational complexity. An intra-TP motion predicting/compensating section (75) performs motion prediction in a predetermined search region the search center of which is the prediction motion vector information created by an intra-prediction motion vector creating section (76) by using an image to be intra-predicted from a frame rearrangement buffer (62) and a reference image from a frame memory (72).  An inter-TP motion predicting/compensating section (78) performs motion prediction in a predetermined search region the search center of which is the prediction motion vector information created by an inter-prediction motion vector creating section (79) by using an image to be inter-encoded from the frame rearrangement buffer (62) and a reference image from the frame memory (72).  The invention can be applied to, e.g., an image encoding device for encoding an image by using the H.264/AVC scheme.
