Abstract:
The present disclosure pertains to an image processing device and method with which a reduction in image quality can be suppressed. A predicted image is generated by using inter-prediction, which uses as a reference image an image of a prior frame that has been encoded and stored in a frame memory, and has been read from the frame memory, decoded, and processed before the current frame, and restricted intra-prediction, which does not use peripheral pixels for which inter-prediction was performed. The present technology can be applied to image processing devices, image encoding devices, and the like.
