Abstract:
[Problem] To increase a frame rate and reduce power consumption while widening a dynamic range during photoelectric conversion. [Solution] This imaging device comprises: a first photoelectric conversion unit; a first readout circuit for reading out to a first signal line a first pixel signal corresponding to a charge obtained by means of photoelectric conversion performed by the first photoelectric conversion unit; a second photoelectric conversion unit having a smaller light receiving surface area than the first photoelectric conversion unit; a second readout circuit for reading out to a second signal line a second pixel signal corresponding to a charge obtained by means of photoelectric conversion performed by the second photoelectric conversion unit; a pixel signal selector for selecting either the first pixel signal or the second pixel signal on the basis of a result obtained by comparing the second pixel signal with a reference signal; and an analog-to-digital converter for converting the pixel signal selected by the pixel signal selector into a digital pixel signal by comparing the pixel signal with a reference signal having a potential level that changes over time.
