Abstract:
An imaging device provided with: a first focal point detection unit for detecting a first defocus amount in a first focal point detection area, the first focal point detection unit having a plurality of first focal point detection areas in an imaging screen; a second focal point detection unit for detecting a second defocus amount in a second focal point detection area, the second focal point detection unit having a plurality of second focal point detection areas in the imaging screen; a defocus amount selection unit for selecting whether to use the first defocus amount detected by the first focal point detection unit or the second defocus amount detected by the second focal point detection unit; and a focus control unit for performing focus control by moving a focusing lens on the basis of the defocus amount selected by the defocus amount selection unit.
