Abstract:
Provided are an imaging device and a focus control method with which, even in cases when the detection-signal levels of phase-difference-detection pixels are low, the accuracy of focus control can be improved, regardless of the object. A phase difference AF processing unit (19) generates a defocus amount (Df1) from the result of a correlation calculation between detection signals, said result being obtained by adding: the detection signals of a plurality of phase-difference-detection pixels (52A, 52B) in a pair line (PL1) in a selected AF area (53); and the detection signals of phase-difference-detection pixels (52A, 52B) in pair lines (PL2, PL3) in directions selected, from among a plurality of directions, as intersecting directions intersecting X directions of each of the aforementioned plurality of phase-difference-detection pixels (52A, 52B). A system control unit (11) performs focus control on the basis of the defocus amount (Df1).
