Abstract:
An imaging element (120) performs photoelectric conversion on a subject image, and obtains an image signal corresponding to an imaging screen. A camera microcomputer (140) controls the exposure time of the imaging element (120). The camera microcomputer (140) measures the distance between a digital still camera (1) and a subject from a position of a lens at the time when the lens (110) is focused. A memory unit (160) stores definition information in which the distance between the digital still camera (1) and the subject is associated with the tolerance of the exposure time. A control unit (100) switches whether or not to perform recognition of the subject image included in the image signal. In a case where the control unit (100) switches so as to recognize the subject image, the camera microcomputer (140) obtains the tolerance of the exposure time corresponding to the measured distance from the definition information, and controls the exposure time within the obtained tolerance of the exposure time.
