Abstract:

Imaging means enables imaging with a first frame rate and a second frame rate which is higher than the first frame rate. Detection means detects a highlight scene. When a highlight scene is detected, imaging operation is performed with a high-speed mode so as to generate an image signal of the high frame rate (240 fps).When no highlight scene is detected, the imaging operation si performed in a normal mode to generate an image signal of the normal frame rate (60 fps). This eliminates the manual operation for switching the frame rate upon imaging a highlight scene. Moreover, it is possible to reduce the power consumption and save the capacity of the storage medium.
