Abstract:
The present invention easily forms a light shielding body that blocks incident light from adjacent pixels even when the pixels are micronized. This imaging element is provided with: a photoelectric conversion unit; an electrically insulating film; an incident light transmission film; and a light shielding body. The photoelectric conversion unit is formed in a semiconductor substrate so as to photoelectrically convert incident light from an object, and is provided to a plurality of pixels. The electrically insulating film is disposed in the pixels so as to electrically insulate the semiconductor substrate. The incident light transmission film is provided adjacently to the electrically insulating film of the pixels so as to transmit the incident light. The light shielding body is disposed in a groove formed in the incident light transmission film at the peripheral edge of each of the pixels so as to block the incident light.
