Abstract:
This imaging unit comprises an MCP, a fluorescent body, and an imaging component. The MCP is disposed on the flight path of an ionization sample, which is a component of an ionized sample, and emits electrons in response to the ionization sample. The fluorescent body is disposed at a later stage than the MCP and emits fluorescence in response to the electrons emitted from the MCP. The imaging component is disposed at a later stage than the fluorescent body and comprises a shutter mechanism capable of switching between an open state in which fluorescence from the fluorescent body is transmitted and imaged and a closed state in which fluorescence from the fluorescent body is blocked and not imaged. The afterglow duration of the fluorescent body is 12 ns or less.
