Abstract:
According to the present invention, fatigue strength of a weld joint formed by hammer peening can be improved by fashioning an impact tip with a distal end having a length between 1 mm and 10 mm in the advancing direction of the tip, applying impact using an arcuate tip having a curvature radius between 1 mm and 10 mm in a cross section perpendicular to the advancing direction, and forming an impact mark in a welding toe part which is a region encompassing the welded metal that sandwiches the weld with the parent plate.
